Hi all,

When applying for resedentia, do you have to show 3 months of income into a spanish account or can you show 3 months bank statements from uk account. This is for the application process, I understand that when you reside in spain fulltime you have to pay income into spanish account to pay spanish income tax.

Many thanks.

Talk to an accountant! They will know the current, correct details.

Information given here might be correct or possibly out of date or plain incorrect.

When you move out would surely be too late.

FWIW we were expected to show records of regular payments into our Spanish account (from our UK account).

When we went to the Residencia appointment we took our UK info with us (P60s, bank details etc.), but nobody was interested.

Thanks for reply, sounds like the best way.

We are in the process of this. We own outright with no mortgage so we dont need proof of income.

You need proof of income regardless of whether or not you have a mortgage...its to prove you wont be a burden on Spanish resources. Currently its

We had to show three months income into our Spanish bank which is covered if you have a full UK state pension paid directly into your Spanish account. They're not interested in UK accounts

You need to open a Spanish bank account ...your solicitor should be able to do this for you and when you arrive you can go in person to complete the paperwork.

If you just want to own a house that is fine, but if you intend living here you will need to prove you have sufficient income to live, including healthcare. The days of Spain being a home for dossers are over - they simply can not afford to have them here.
