We recently visited Murcia to look for an area to live in. We found Sucina which had some lovely properties and seemed to have a good expat community. But Sucina has very limited public transport. When we got the bus from Los Alcazares to Murcia it past through Roldan, but we didn't have time left to visit the town. Since returning home we have looked at properties in Roldan and we are very impressed, but can anybody tell us what sort of UK expat community there is. One of the properties appears to be marketed by a German or Dutch agent, so is Roldan more German/Dutch than British?

Hi,

I just noticed your post whilst putting my property up for sale on this website.

Roldan is still a bit of a hidden gem, the ex pats are mostly british and they generally live in our little complex at the the edge of the village or in La Torre Golf, 5 minutes away.  Our complex is walking distance to the village which gives it the edge over the properties in La Torre Golf asthe residents there come to the village to shop and socialise. There is a market at the end of the street every Monday, the village has couple supermarkets, chemist, tobacconist, laundrette,  a variety of small shops and number of bars and restaurants that are british and spanish,

At present there is only about 4 properties for sale rangeing from 2 bed at 119000 euros to 3 bed 130000-140000 euros.

If you wanted to view any of them I would be happy to arrange it.

I am not sure if you are ofey with purchasing property in Spain, but I am happy to share my experience of doing it.

Hope this is some help.

Yours

Dianne

Good afternoon

I live on the golf complex just outside Roldan. The community in the town is     predominantly Spanish as it is a traditional Spanish town.

There is a very good expat British           population which is reflected in the amount of bars, cafes and restaurants owned and run by expat’s.

Roldan has everything you need as far as shops go with supermarkets, banks, electric       suppliers, builders merchants etc. it doesn’t have your big Mercadonas or Aldi/Lidl but they are available 20 minutes away in Los Alcazares where you will also find the    nearest beach.

If your looking for somewhere that has that tradition Spanish feel with a British expat community and away from the large tourist spots then you can’t go wrong with Roldan

I hope this helps

Regards Gary

Thank you Dianne57, that information is very useful. Unfortunately we can't start our move for several months and have no plans to return to the area in the near future. We will certainly include Roldan in our search for a property when we do come over.

Thank you also for your kind offer of help. We have bought and sold 3 properties in Spain in the past, so we are aware of most of the requirements and the pitfalls. Good luck selling your property

Regards

Thanks Gary, your information is good news for us. We will certainly be looking at Roldan when we come over later in the year.

Hi All,

I hope everyone is well and keeping safe

I have seen the messages relating to Roldan and it really sounds like a great place to settle, however me and my partner when we come over will need to find work is that difficult in the area or surrounding?

Also does anyone know if a Roldan video has been made i can see there is some on La Torre and Sierra.

Thanks

Jules x
