Hi Jim, if i'll decide to rent my flat out, please could you let me know, what items of the house should be included in the furnished flat for the tenants? and also Jim, I would appreciate if you share your experience with me of being a landlord as it would be my first time at La Torre! Thanks

Like you we bought off plan and actually took possession in 2005. After 2-3 years of enjoying the winter weather in ?Spain we decided to rent the apartment. The first tennant came via another resident in the flats, would we rent it to a friend for 9 months? March to December, the tenant was lovely, the place kept immaculate. Then came 2-3 short term rentals of 4 - 6 weeks each. Then another long term, had difficulty getting them out, when they finally moved the fridge/freezer was broken and the cooker hood. Don’t know what they had done with the electrics as no light fitting would take a light bulb without the bulb ‘blowing’, had to get an electrician to rectify. People say there are many things you can claim for when you rent property, there are not as many as people make out. Other people will say “We had brilliant tennents”, they are the lucky ones. I am just warning, be very wary.

Baljeet,

When are you out there next?

It would probably be best to talk F2F over a beer at the Woodhouse!

I am over in September.

If that does not work or is too long for you to wait let me know and I will send you a detailed email.

At this stage uf you are renting through an Agency, and I would if I were you, they will advise on the mandatory requirements.

I could scan a list if I can find it and send to you.

All your personal stuff you need to lock away.

Where are you on La Torre? I am on Emperador.

Jim
