Good Day to all.

I have been visiting my house at various times throughout the year it is situated in Lo Pagan.

I bank with "BANKINTER"  there only branch which I know about is in L.A. I need to move to a bank in San Pedro, not only local but

hopefully a lot less expensive to maintain the account, ie It costs me over a hundred Euros to maintain the account last year.

Any recommendations most welcome.

Use Cajamar Wefferent account or open a Transferwise Borderless account.

Too be honest you don't really need to bank with a Spanish bank theses days.

Hi Mick and Karen

I have been recommending in many posts Cajamar,s "weferrent" account including to Roland who followed my advice, (although he needs to get name right, not werrent). The Weferrent account is online but need to open in branch if you,re a non resident. I have written so many lengthy replies I am going to write a seperate post myself to save my time and make it easier to research. Coulnt recommend them enough, it took a lot of researching to find a free account for non residents. Read their info on website.

Regards

Pauline.

Thanks for the reply, I cant believe that is the only option for a good bank with reasonable charges and local.

For a non resident it is!. Resident accounts have been free(some with stipulations) however it seems almost all the big names now are trying to charge even residents for an account. I spent 4weeks teawling their websites, going into their branches and only Cajamar offerred me a free account. If you find another then let everyone know.

Regards

Pauline.

I looked at the Cajamar site and it says you need to be resident in Spain for the Wefferent account? Need to find a new account as Caixa have written to say that their fees are going to go up to 60 euros per quarter from 10th April and 36 euros per annum for the debit card. It is extortionate but need an account for electricity and water direct debits.

Well we,re not resident and I know of a lot more non residents I have recommended the bank to and they have joined. You need to go into the branch as online applications non resident NIE,s aren't recognised.

Pauline.
