Hi everyone, Hope that you are all well? We are planning to come to our apartment in San Pedro in a couple of weeks (14 September ), having had 4 aborted attempts to do so since March. The Covid figures are not great anywhere but we wanted to get a feel for how anyone in San Pedro and the Mar Menor feels. High level data is all very well but what is the reality?

On a slightly different but related matter. We have seen that wearing of masks is mandatory in outside areas but not for exercise does riding a bike constitute as exercise or is it just seen as transport? Maybe a silly question but if we decide to make the trip we would not want to fall foul of local legislation!

Any thoughts or guidance on life as it is currently would be greatly appreciated.

I was at San Pedro 3 days ago and it was lovely. Still quite busy considering. You do not have to wear a mask while riding a bike or while on the beach. the rules can change at any time, I would keep up to date by checking Murcia Today.

Thank you very much that is really helpful. At the moment we don't whether we will make it at all, as yet another flight has been cancelled. Ryanair still seem to be flying but we are a bit concerned by the numbers. It is one thing having to quarantine in the UK but quite another if we get caught up in a local lockdown too. I guess it is a case of keep watching how things are developing. Keep well and thank you again. Any thoughts are most welcome.

Hi KeS

just read your recent post. We are in much the same position but our rearranged and then rearranged flights are apparently flying with Ryan Air mid sept to return end of sept. So here is hoping. I have heard a whisper that when the kids in the uk go back in to school the uk quarantine may end ,once again here is hoping.

If it goes the other way and Spain lockdown again and flights are cancelled  I’d take a refund on the tickets and rebook with a new booking. We transferred our flights and paid about £70 extra each on flight booked direct with Ryan Air which even on there own site for new bookings were cheaper !

Good luck in your plans

Hi Kes,

Had same dilemma as you last week but bit the bullit and came out weds for 2 weeks. Its nice and quiet, beaches are busy but less so than normal. Were wearing masks all the time we are out even on bikes (just to be sure) except beaches and when sat eating or drinking, once ur used to them its fine.

Our main concern like yours is local lockdown but even though cases are rising doesnt look like its on the agenda yet, but who knows. The schools go back soon so that may or may not trigger a change, but so far so good.

Thank you very much for all of your thoughts. I think at the moment we will watch the situation and make a decision next weekend. We have flights back but not out as those have been cancelled. I have to say that part of me thinks it looks okay but am concerned with the level of escalation and wonder whether there might be another lockdown once the schools are back. Hope to have a lovely break and make it safely back to the UK.

Life in San Pedro is alive and well. We all are following all safety guidelines as mandated by the experts but life goes on in San Pedro. This is a small town so we feel safe here. The same situation is worst in other towns/countries.
