Hello, we have a flight booked with Ryanair to Alicante on the 9th January. Our apartment is in San Pedro del Pinatar in Murcia. Obviously we will have to have a negative COVID test before we travel and we understand that when we arrive in San Pedro we will be subject to whatever travel restrictions are in place. However my question is ...... our flight is due to arrive in Alicante at 21.35. Given the time to get through the airport, pick up the hire car etc we suspect we won’t get to San Pedro till after the night time curfew starts in Murcia. We believe it starts at midnight in Valencia but we wonder what the reaction of the police would be if we get to Murcia after the curfew starts. Are they likely to fine us or is travel from an airport an valid excuse. Thanks, for any advice.

I would expect arriving from a flight (for which you'll have proof) shouldn't be a problem for the curfew. However, if the restrictions on crossing from one municipality to another are still in place at that time, then you may have an issue. Currently, travelling to a permanent residence is allowed, but travel to a holday home isn't. It's not clear from your post whether you are residents or not. It would be prudent to have a copy of your residency documents, etc. if applicable.

Then, whilst I would never encourage or condone someone breaking the law, you may want to consider what you actual chances are of being stopped...

Hi, we are holiday home owners but we wondered if the fact that we now have to have a negative COVID test before travelling would make any difference. Thanks

Hi Ian

I moved permanently to Murcia only 2 weeks ago, I came by ferry - but the point I want to make is that, I got completely lost on Saturday coming back from Murcia City in my Dublin reg car.  So I was actually on a motorway and just inside border of Alicante and I saw traffic police check point.  They were not stopping anyone.  I pulled over and asked for their assistance, they were extremely nive and friendly and thankfully one of them had good english.  they never asked me for any paperwork or what I was doing there, absolutely nothing.#Follow advise already given keep yourself up to date.  But if things are the same or less resstrictive I would just go ahead with your travel plans.

Good luck !

Angela
