Surgeons don’t always wear masks in operating theatres.

Some do, some. don't.

With this disease I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Reading this I am not sure if you are talking about poeple in the UK or in Spain? I have just got home from Spain and whilst there found that the majority of people do glove and mask  BUT there were others who were shopping together with no gloves or mask - that was in Mercadona, however in ...

...Lidl the security was giving out gloves and hand sanitizer.

Now in the UK we haven't quite caught up with you, remember tho it took a while for the Costas to catch up with Madrid didn't it. The supermarket I went to, Tesco, were disinfecting the trolleys and hands of all who entered and there was a 2 mtr space to get in, whilst in there everyone was avoiding others very good to see. Yes people were in there in two's and I am sure that will stop in the next week or so.

Personally I think we could be in a better position than unfortunate Europe, as we should pull up the drawbridge (so to speak) stop all flights, ships cars and lorries from going out and coming into the country.Again personally we have a very small garden but I am going to start gardening with growbags for essential fresh veggies and fruit, enough to sustain us. I've never done it before but the old saying "when the going gets tough the tough etc etc etc"

Remember be KIND people maybe acting stupidly because they are frightened. The will obey the rules it is just taking time form them to do so.

Again a personal opinion but goodness there are so many bigots on these forums, I'm sure many are scared to ask for help fearing they will be ridiculed!

Yes that's all very good of tesco. However try asda.lidle home bargains etc they are not disinfecting hands trollies etc on entry. This in itself is contaminating all your food items inside.Especially those vacuumed plastic items such as meat etc. This is classed as a hard surface and the virus loves it as it stays for longer.Im stuck here in the UK for now and am a key worker so can you make sense of this 1.After 6 days of working non stop I went only this morning Sunday to get my rations from asda.Their was a line of people waiting and I asked the asda security if I can get my shopping early as a key worker?.answer?key workers are Mondays Wed and Fridays my answer ?what about those that have worked 6 days on the trot to keep the population going and have 24hrs off to sort my own things out.His answer was in my brief it's Mondays Wed etc so I said to him can you atleast make a suggestion to your bosses under the circumstances.Answer?I'm not changing my brief and your welcome to join the line.I then asked him if he is a robot and has he got no common sense at all and can i speak to someone in charge. This but is the best ?answer bosses only work Monday to Friday's.So as a true gentleman I politely told him to stick add up his blablabla and said I was going to Tesco.

And where are we all supposed to buy these masks from ??

Roland, In Spain we can buy them in a farmica, but This  should not bother you, as you stated before  "ALL UK government advice says they

are not necessary" ??

In England now Tesco’s is the only supermarket that has sanitizer on the door ! But we are NOT encouraged to go out it’s stay indoors stay safe. We definitely were slow to act we came back from Lanzarote on 22/3/20 and there were no restrictions at all at the airport walked straight through no checks crazy !!!

"Stop spreading disinformation." ???

Maybe the Farmacia on Camposol had no masks or glove,s but Spain is a very large country, and I had no problem in our local Farmacia.

If you look at the original post, you will see it was added by someone from San Pedro del Pinatar not Camposol

I don't know your location but in San Pedro you cannot enter a supermarket without being required to don gloves and have your hands sprayed, quite rightly. Consum have markings on the floor to indicate how close you should be to the next person. I saw a queue of people outside Mercadona all keeping their distance, most wearing masks. I think most people are behaving responsibly, including the supermarket stores but you'll always get exceptions - we are only human after all. This is new to everyone do give people time to adjust.

I suggest start reading things properly and stop misinterpreting.

This local council was asking for PPE for its frontline staff. Nothing about ‘everybody must wear one’!

The disinformation comment related to the availability of masks in Pharmacies.

I would agree that it could have been better phased.

As for the 'everyone must wear one'  comment. I never said that.

The point was refuting the view that masks are useless. They aren't. If they were, they would not have been requested.
