Hi all,

I am visiting our property in San Pedro del Pinatar after almost a year. Normally, I hire a car from Flamenca Cars, but they do not have any cars available during September / October, when I am visiting. After previous poor experiences with the likes of Gold Car, Firefly, etc, I looked at Trustpilot to see if there were any alternative car hire companies recommended, but all I could see was negative feedbacks!!.

So my plan is to get a taxi from Alicante Airport to our property, and then hire a car for a couple of weeks when we are in San Pedro.

Can anyone recommend a reliable, trustworthy car hire Company in or around San Pedro?.

Finally, can anyone recommend a reliable taxi firm to take my wife and I from Alicante airport to San Pedro?. We're arriving late at night, so we don't want any delays!.

Thanks for any feedback.

Rgds

I have been stung by goldcar/rhoduin. Never again I hope.

I have used Centauro many times and have not experienced problems with them. The only thing they do which is a little irritating is they  try and make me hire a higher spec car, anyway I decline this always.

I agree with Chris, Centauro are very good and very honest. I think if you want a hire car the airport is your best option. Enjoy your longed for holiday.

If going with centaurs  register on their website with your email. do your search but don't book.. the later that night they may send u an offer upto 30% off the original rates going.    They do seem to be shockingly expensive these days  n I would describe myself as a regular user of them  . :(  here is hoping their rates decline.

Used to live in San P & always used Centuaro. Apart from some of the ladies being a grumpy in the office (haha) they are a good firm, straightforward & honest, not like Goldcar etc. However, stopped using them and bought a cheap car, as they got so expensive. Like another contributor said, there is ALWAYS a deal on, anywhere from 10-35%, just do some googling and you'll find different discount codes, or sign up for their newsletter and they'll send them to you. Alternative option is the guy I bought my car from (its an ex hire car) Ric who runs it still has plenty of vehicles on his fleet, I believe. Nice fella, he'd arrange an airport pick up as necessary, has an office in Cabo Roig (by Iceland) and Alicante too, according to his website. http://rtscarhire.eu Good luck!

We arrived at Alicante airport last Sunday 5th Sept. Car hire companies at the airport wanted €6/700 for one week and the reviews scared the hell out us >70 years old.
We had prebooked an overnight at the Areca hotel and by chance asked if they could recommend a local hire co. Without hesitation the desk clerk got on the internet and within minutes had arranged a Seat Arona from a firm called Paquito Rent a Car. The guy dropped the car to the hotel within 2 hours and the total cost was €359 plus €90 being over 70. We are delighted with the car ( brand new so no scratches etc with which to rip us off later). Hope this helps.

Hi Dom

Thanks so much for taking the time to post your reply.

I will certainly check out Rick’s website, as I quite like the idea of having a car at our property. Especially as we to hope to be able to visit Spain more regularly.

Thanks again

Nigel
