Can anyone please recommend the best value for money, accepted health insurance for a non lucrative visa application ? I’m having trouble tracking it down but I understand there is also a healthcare policy that you can take out in Spain but it also gives you private health cover worldwide or Europe and Uk ? Thanks in advance

Many companies offer these. We used Sanitas (which is part of the BUPA group), as our bank had a linked offer. I have seen DKV recommended by other people on this forum.

The policy needs to be paid up front for a year and be 'live' at the date of the NLV application; and needs to have no 'co-p' (in UK terms .no excess). We were 50 & 48, with no pre-existing conditions and our policy cost around £1,200 for the two of us, including dental cover. I have seen people with pre-existing conditions getting quotes as high as £6,000 pa each. It's important to shop around as prices vary significantly.

Certain Sanitas policies also include worldwide emergency medical cover (similar to a travel insurance policy), but you would need to check the individual policy.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mark,

We used DKV for this ( and still have), also for outside Spain. Easy to work with, not to expensive and welcome at so much fascilities. If you need some additional info, you can pm me.

Next to the nice and good reply from RichT, I hope this helps to.

Cheers, Peter

Thank you so much Rich, very helpful 😊 Apologies for not responding to you sooner we were back in the Uk and up to our necks in it. I’ll look into it as we will be approaching the 90 days when we next go back to UK for Christmas, although I have heard that Spain have asked the EU to scrap the rule 🤞🏻

Thanks again
