Hello Elaine & Simon

Congratulations on your purchase in Lo Pagan, we have recently completed on our property in Lo Pagan. We had a few challenges along the way, but we have got there in the end, having signed in September.

Short term it will be used as a holiday home but we are planning on retirement in a few years...we like the whole area, it has a nice Spanish feel and the Mar Menor with numerous beaches are wonderful for future grandchildren.

We have a lot to learn including the language but it is part of the challenge of a new country.

Anthony & Katherine Coles

We are coming over at the beginning of next month to try and find a house so will be in a similair situation.

Is the language barrier an issue?

We were over in May and found English was spoken by a lot of people in shops, bars and restaurants.

Are there any ex-pat regular haunts to meet and share experiences etc?

We have very few issues with the language, we are not as proficient in Spanish as we want to be but it does not hold us back in anyway.

We feel it’s our obligation to speak Spanish but locals are very obliging  in the shops & restaurants.

It won’t hold you back...

I wouldn’t say there are ex pat haunts, we enjoy the views at Rubio 360, DLounge & Fresco and always try to visit Triskel when we are over.

We also like sitting out at Loli’s chiringuito & the Beach Bar by the windmill...we find more English there.

Hi Anthony & Katherine

We are John & Mhairi and are having a villa built in Lo Pagan at the moment.  We wonder if we might pick your brain about something.  We have just learned that we need a Habitation Certificate and this can take up to 3 months or sometimes more to get.  Is this something you kno...

...w anything about.  Also we have been faced with a few challenges ourselves and would be interested to speak to you guys about these.  If you could email me I could perhaps give you my phone number and we could have a chat if that would be ok?  Hope all is going well now.  Many thanks.

John Devitt

Hi John we needed habitation certificate as well and with the help of a Spanish speaking friend got it done in literally 48 hours. If you like I can pass his details on to assist you.

I know John is covered now, we have gone on to become good friends.

He may not read this for 6 months so I will say Thanks on his behalf 😀

Anthony

Dear newbies,

Hi, Mick and Karen here,

I suggest these ongoing conversations should be taken to the next level ie; maybe we could pencil in a last Friday of the month or similar to meet for a casual drink etc on a regular basis it would be great to meet all you folks.

We also have purchased in Lo Pagan last Dec.

Cheers.
