Evening all, we are interested in flying over and looking and properties in santiago de la ribera for holiday property for family and friends. Can anyone advise any nice areas in particular? Looks really good on Google, weve 2 young kids and beaches look great. How safe town is and friendly? How busy is in the summer months, we like hustle and bustle when we are away on holiday. Is there plenty of good bars, restaurants on promenade. Basically im looking for anyones opinions on it compared to other areas. Always good to gear from you in the know. Thanks in advance,

Benny

Hi Benny,

Santiago del la Ribera is a lovely spot….we are here right now and it’s quiet, mind you it’s a national holiday tomorrow and at lunchtime today we noticed an influx of Spaniard weekenders…

When you say hustle and bustle….you won’t find any karaoke bars or tribute bands in La Ribera. There are two English bars, all others are Spanish. Yes there are a couple of bars and plenty of restaurants along the prom. In the summer there’s children's entertainment along the prom and of course the many festivals…la Ribera is mostly a Spanish town but in the last 2/3 years I’ve noticed more English speaking people around.

There’s the usual banks, a post office and chemists.

From my experience la Ribera is a safe place to be.

It’s flat so easy to cycle and walk around.

As for areas, that very much depends on your needs and budget, but after a night out it’s preferable to live close to the bars and restaurants….if your budget allows I suggest looking at property from the prom out to Av. Academia Gral Del Aire…

Good luck ….
