Hi all. Moving to Fortuna and looking for the best bank account to open as a non resident. Looking for maximum flexibility and minimum monthly/annual costs. Any recommendations with fees would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance and stay safe

We are with Cajamar. Ask for Wefferet account. Online, FOC. Their helpline is helpful and speaking english...

Look up Paulines article about it in this forum/banking. Scroll it was last year I think....

Thank you to Roland and eraser for helping me to spread the word! My very long guide re Cajamar is actually titled " Free Spanish Bank for Non Residents" which I think is the one eraser has indicated, more detailed than my replies in "Free Banking".

Just as an aside, a forum member of Costa Blanca forum, went into the Torrevieja branch earlier this week on my recommendation and he got told its only free so long as he keeps a 1037€ minimum balance throughout the year. He didn't open at the time as he didn't have that much on him but said he, d return as he usually keeps around 2000€ approx in the year. This is news to me and nowhere does it say this so I told him to ring their customer services as they do have English speakers and sometimes the agents get it wrong. Hope you are both pleased with your bank changeover.

Stay safe

Regards

Pauline

He said he was told he could have a standard account but not the wefferrent account unless he opened it with the required sum. I, ll ask him as he was going to phone and only mentioned it in case you or others had been told that

I have been with La Caixia for 12 years but as non resident they charge a lot unless you have pension paid in or something like that. They put the fees up from 1st October and I have changed totally to N26 which is all done online but with Spanish address you will get a debit card and you can pay direct debits as well.

I am so far very happy and my direct debits have all gone out on time which is something I have heard is a problem with lots of banks when you move

Hope this helps

Thank you. I did look at this account on line but couldn’t see on line about the debit card. Can the debit card be used in cash point machines and if so which one. Many thanks
