I am planning on moving to Spain in a few years hopefully and would love to live near the sea but don’t want a tourist location . Would like to be near an ex pat community as I am on my own . Any suggestions would be great as I only know the Costa del sol area but it is too expensive to live there . Thank you
You could consider Aguilas. We love it ! Very Spanish town. Lots of beaches and plenty to do. Good luck!
Many thanks for that , really appreciated , I want to do my homework before I make the move and still not sure if best to buy or rent but property is really reasonable . I am hoping to be able to do voluntary work at a dog rescue Home so need to find out if any are close by. I have 2 dogs so really want to be near the beach
We have a place in Lo Pagan which is a lovely little spanish resort, lovely beach, on border with Santiago de la Ribera, less than 10 mins from San Javier airport x
Many thanks for this , I am making a list of places and plan on coming out early next year to have a look around . I have never driven abroad but think I really need to hire a car to be able to get about and explore , are the roads really busy ?
Any other information you can give me about the area would be really welcome . Karen

It's very easy to drive here I am more comfortable driving out there than back Home, la zenia boulevard is 15 mins drive away, huge shopping centre, so easy to get to x
That’s nice to know , thanks , I’ve been going out to Costa del sol for 15 years and never driven out there but if I’m going to live in Spain I’m going to have to do it and as I want to work at a dog rescue home as well . I’m sure it will all come together , really looking forward to it x
Hi there
We live near Playa Canina, a beach for dogs. It's about 15min drive from our house.
We have a one bedroom apartment with private court yard and roof terrace with stunning mountain views.
We also have a larger family room to sleep 4 however still having some work done to it.
We also have two little dogs who are very friendly and tolerant.
Happy for you to borrow our car as it is insured for any driver over 30yrs with full license.
You would have use of our pool, your own private access and secure gated parking.
We are in Las Palas which is close to beaches, Fuente Alamo and Mazarron/Puerto de Mazarron.
Not a tourist area at all but lots of ex pats dotted around the place and also people who speak good English.
Lots of bars, a spa shop, butchers, bakery etc... all within walking distance.
Private message if you would like some photos
Regards
Jon
If you want to live in an expat community with several dogs homes all requiring volunteers and easy access to the beach then look no further than Camposol. 99% of our residents would not go anywhere else. You would be hard pushed to find another urbanisation which has its own medical centre, farmacy, post office, petrol station, shops and a large supermarket, huge choice of restaurants and bars, its own social clubs and church and so much more.
I guess it depends on what you consider close to a beach
Camposol is great for ex pats and has the added bonus of having lots of amenities on site which is quite rare from what I can tell as we meet so many people having a meal/beer because they have come to do their shopping. By car the coast is about 15 minutes drive and there are a number of beaches to choose from
