Absolutely preferable but at my time of life, payback will be cleared when I'm in my grave!!!!
We are both retired so not sure the expense would be worthwhile for solar. Our solicitor set up our utilities for us so not sure about changing.

We are thinking the same way
I have installed solar fotovoltaic previously, with great success - payback then was about 8-10 years and there was great benefit. Not sure how Spain deals with any grants - probably none now. Thus payback is even longer.

The taxes you now have to pay to generate solar power hardly make it worthwhile. Strange in a country with so much sunshine.
Solar energy is not as easy in Spain, as it is in the rest of the World! There are all sorts of restrictions on it, by royal decree! You have to register as an electricity generator, there are limits to how much unused power you can sell back to Iberdrola! Do enquire from a reputable supplier, who will tell you more..

We do pay by standing order. It does seem a bit much to pay for water and electricity we don't use. We are with the parent company in uk - Scottish power and don't pay as much. We pay council tax to have the bins collected
I have a dd on line and I removed the service charge. I also opted for a discount and whatever else they had on offer my electric was reduced considerably it’s now about 17 to 20 euros at the most when I’m not there and I was there a few weeks ago for nearly a month and came to 37 euros (in March) I was pleasantly surprised at the bill. My bill used to be on average 40 euros and 70 odd when I was staying in my Rebecca so as stated with all the discounts it has made a vast difference. Make sure you are on the lowest tariff, get the discount on line or go to their showroom and they will sort out. I sorted out my friend who has Neptuno and she has seen a great reduction in her electric bills.
