Hi everyone,

We have just bought on Camposol. We are hoping to move out next  month and we want to bring our cat with us.

Any advice on the best way to do this, we have so far had some ridiculous quotes from various companies ( up to £3000 from one of them )

We are not looking at going by ferry, we want to go by air, we are prepared to travel separately from the cat or take the cat on board with us. Just looking for advice on the safest and cheapest way.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

I think you may find that there are only certain airports who accept animals, that was what I was told, but there are companies who include pet removal. I brought mine by ferry in a pet friendly cabin. You could advertise on the net for someone who is coming back to campasol who may be able to help.

Good luck

Linda

Portsmouth or Plymouth to Bilbao or Santander with Brittany Ferries that have pet friendly cabins, my cat came over with me in December she is nearly 17 years old and she was like she had been traveling all her life. Food on board is excellent.

Yes, the ferry was the best option for us. The cat can stay in the car on the Pont Aven, much less stressful. Sometimes the pet friendly cabins smell of dogs. Lovely boat with good restaurant and café. We do it 3 or 4 times a year.

The only thing in going on the 4 hour ferry is that a dog died last year due to the heat even with the windows down!

The temperature is regulated on the Pont Aven

Hi Lin 🙋🏼‍♀️We opted for the pet friendly cabin - we move to Camposol on the 6thNov.I wonder would you mind if I pick your brains a little about the journey ☺️Our old Cat is also 17 but fairly fit bless him however I can’t help but feel very anxious about it all it’s a long journey & he has only ever done an hour car ride before. How did you find the journey & having an elderly cat too did your Cat settle okay ? Do we need to bring our cats food and litter tray ? Also I just wonder how your Cat adapted to life in Spain it’s very different isn’t it - I can’t help worrying about Sam getting lost etc - we have lived in the same house for 10 years.Does your Cat go outside alone or do you walk on a lead ? Any advice would be fab. Thankyou so much a very anxious Cat Mum.😊
