We used Currencies Direct when we bought our place. At the time they appeared to offer the best rates for the larger transfer

However, for our normal transfers to top up our Spanish account we now use Wise (who weren't around when we bought our property). We find them very competitive, very fast as money in the designated account within minutes, they allow you to transfer exact amounts so no charges deducted if you are paying for work done and the rates are real time so fluctuate as the market moves which is why they are competitive

We used Currencies direct for the purchase of our property...quick and efficient with a competitive exchange rate.

We have used then ever since, no charge for exchange, lots of peopl suggest Wise..slightly better rate than Currencies direct but they charge..so on refection its (for us for small amounts) to stay with Currencies direct. 

Check also a company called Cambridge...see what they can offer/match  or better the going rate of other companies...good luck.

You wont go wrong with opening a Wise account , I was with CD and to be honest they were fine but Wise exchange rates are better. I was also advised to use Wise from a company that is full of people who worked in British banks before they came to Spain and they all use Wise so I tried and was very impressed ,great exc rates and the money gets transfered in seconds .

We used A Place in the Sun Currency and found them to be great. No issues with larger or smaller amounts and good with forward - contracts too. The rates were competitive and we'll definitely use them in the future.
