Hi there. So we are halfway through our move and purchase to Spain. We are being told by solicitors who have POA that we cannot use our wise account for taxes and they need to have a spanish account so they can take direct debits from.

I've looked on the Web and cannot see a conclusive answer. So if you're a full time resident can you let me know what you know about this.

Thanks for helping

You can use wise to make payments the same as any other system from Spanish banks.

Just set up the direct debits yourself

Your solicitors are mis informing you.

Lots of people on here use Wise.com to pay their taxes by DD.

You don't need a Spanish bank account these days despite what your solicitors say.

They now say its because our NIE won't be shown on the direct debit but if we take a spanish bank account it shows this, so payment might go astray.??

They have asked me to link NIE to my wise account. Does everyone else link their NIE..? Everything was going super until this.

They are talking a right load of cobbler's to be polite.

Nobody 'links' their NIE number to their Wise account.

Absolute rubbish.

Absolute rubbish.

We gather this but as we've never had an iban number etc we don't know how it works.  I assume they link the nie from there side or they have a separate reference other than nie. How does it work.? If I have this I will tackle them again tomorrow 🙂👍

I'm told now wise is fine for all direct debits but they assumed when we pay tax in future whether it be residential or non residential it may cause problems. Been advised today If so we can just take the tax form to a bank and pay it there.. N26 bank is free and gives you a spanish iban so that is an option if there's any future bother. Although it illegal to refuse a iban within sepa apparently
