Does any remember the TV system we nearly all used to use, TELE MICRO and how they disappeared overnight. I used to pay cash up front. They went owing me six months subscription. Had to buy a €900 satellite system.

Blimey that is a blast from the past !!

I remember the lady in the office on Camposol Lourdes was her name.

You must have been one of the unlucky ones that had just paid for a years subscription.

I was very lucky myself as I only had about a month left on my years subscription.

We had to put a sat dish up but my neighbour did not use her roof terrace so we joined forces & put the sat dish on her terrace with a dual NRB so cost was halved.

You can still see some of the old Telmicro aerials around.

Yes, it is a blast from the past, that was one of the first lessons had in Spain. We moved to Camposol 2004 and it was not long after they disappeared.

Yes we bought our place in 2003.

They were as it turned out illegal re broadcasters.

I think they did a bunk before they got caught !!

Lots of people list upwards of 600 euro I seem to remember.

People knew Tel Micro were a shady bunch from the outset.  - cheekily feeding piggyback style off others infrastucture  -  totally illegal. As with everything if it seems too good to be true - it generally is ! It was only a matter of time before the authorities stepped in.  and closed them down.  Satellite dishes were available for installation €750 as an alternative for people desperate for Brit TV.   I got one , and am still using it without problem 17 years later - it has been moved 3 times -  when I have moved house, so I don't think it owes me anything. It works alongside my internet system now which is not the marvellous innovation I thought it was.
