I will be moving to Camposol in the next few months and will be renting a property before buying.
I've read that you need to rent for 12 months or own a property before you can buy a car.
I only want to rent for 6 months or less so how would I go about buying a car?
Any advice would be good
As far as I know there are no restrictions about buying a car.
BUT you do need an N.I.E number.

We’ve been renting here since April but have just bought and moved in at Camposol. We wanted to buy a car on arrival but were also told you had to have a permanent address or a property rental lease of at least a year. The car must be registered to an address that’s why. Lots of people/ sources have said the same.
So did you rent or lease a car before you bought a property. ?
You would need a car while you are there from day 1 I'm guessing
Yes unfortunately we resorted to hiring a car. It was Catch 22! Couldn’t buy a car without a permanent address and couldn’t look for perm address without car! Had we known before we arrived we would have hired from Murcia airport on arrival. Goldcar seem cheapest and we’ve had no problems with them/their cars. A month at a time is cheaper I think. Airport hire is cheaper than elsewhere. Hope that helps.
