Any suggestions as to where can hire or get a car for 2/3 months in August coming out house hunting cheap as poss

Unfortunately there is no such thing as cheap car hire at the moment.

And most car hire companies will only hire for a maximum of 30 days.

And when checking prices price for rentals of 10/12 day lengths which are usually a small saving on rentals over 2 weeks…but it does mean you will have to return it to the airport so maybe more hassle than the saving is worth…..

Car hire rates are high at the moment, as the companies are clearly trying to recover their losses from 2020 and they are expecting an increase in holidaymakers as restrictions change / relax.

As other posters have said, you can normally only hire a car for a maximum of 28 or 30 days at a time - however this could be to your advantage, as you may have to pay a high price to rent for the first month in August, but prices may then drop in September & October, as the traditional holiday season is over...
