Hi

We’re looking into relocating to Spain from the Uk, and have been reccomended to look at Camposol by a local estate agent.

We’d be bringing our 8 year old son with us, he loves sport - football, golf etc, but we want them make sure he’s in an area where he can make friends, get involved in sports teams etc, and wondered if Camposol would offer this to him?

Also, how far would he need to travel to school?

He’s quite excited about the move, but when it comes to it, it’ll be hard for him to leave his friends back home, so we want to make sure we move to an area where he can quickly settle.

Camposol has no sport's facilities at all..not even a swing park/playground..it does have a 18 hole golf course ..the nearest schools is around a 20 minute drive from the site you don't see that many kids on Camposol and the ones that you do see tend to hang a round Sector B looking bored stiff..95% of the expatriates that live on Camposol are retired ...I am not to sure if you will be looking for a job to support yourself if you are then forget it unemployment in Spain is very high even if you do speak Spanish ...if you intend renting you can expect to pay around €500 pm.so you will need to earn Around €2,000 pm just to get by and keep 3 people ...I. am sorry if my post sounds negative I have been on Camposol for 11 years and this is how I see it the majority that do move to Spain tend to live below the radar working cash in hand cleaning pools/working in Brit Bar's/cleaning holiday let's/handy man/airport taxi runs   ..for a season or two and then disappear not to be seen again ...this is the general story for Brit's that move to Spain not just Camposol ...if you are under retirement age your son will get fee Spanish NHS you will not ...you need to be working for a employer and paying NI stamp or be self employed and pay around €250 pm NI stamp...to get access to Spanish NHS .

Hi. I agree with previous post.

However we live 10 km from camposol (walking distance to school ) with our 11 year old. (Moved when he was 10)

It's great! He loves it ! Work here non existent unless you want €35-€40 a day

We have a online business so un affected by this.

Kids on camposol are loathed !!

Most people are retired and moan about kids

Spain is great for kids. My view is camopsol is not!

Hi Graham

Sorry I must disagree with the  post by frequent flyer

Camposol dose not have the facilities you are looking for but there are many other areas in the Murcia region that do have and also have a thriving ex-pat community.

Around the Mar Menor you will find all the sports facilities you require for your son, in the parks there are recreational facilities for both the young and old swings exercise machines all for free also the beaches offer many sports activities. These can also be found in the outlying villages

There are many properties to rent long term for between 250 Euro  upwards last year 4 bed property front line to the beach came on the market for 400 Euro a month.

Work is scares but if you are diligent you will find some, and it dose not have to be illegal,  recently one of the car parking companies was looking for drivers offering a contract which would secure you health care.

Many people go to Camposol and are disillusioned by what they were looking for and may only stay a year or to, but that dose not mean they disappear  from Spain they quite possibly have found somewhere more suited to them.

Do not be put off of your sons dreams

Regars

Los Alcazares has kiddy play stuff as well as beaches.  Kids, sand and water are an easy mix.
