Can I wash my car or power wash the solarium

Hi all please can I ask a quick question, the hubby has asked me to ask the question of can he wash the car at home, he seems to remember reading that you can't but can't remember where he read it. Something to do with the water pipes. So if you can't wash your car can you power wash like the solarium/around the pool etc ?? as obviously you would be using the same water (if that makes sense). He is a retired mobile valeter/garden maintenance guy so he a bit gutted. Thanks Bev
