There is a public health centre on Camposol. There are now three doctors appointed to the centre, as well as nurses and support staff. We have always found the treatment there to be excellent. There are some that have chosen not to learn Spanish and are happy to rely on Google translate rather than bringing an interpreter to appointments, which is a requirement. There are many excellent translators here, some of whom, like ours, Debbie Shaw charge a reasonable annual fee to make and attend appointments, as well as provide general support, such as renewing prescriptions etc. there is also a private clinic just around the corner that has English speaking doctors and staff. They will see you for a fee. Many here mix and match between the public and private systems. There are hospitals in Mazarron Town and the port, where you can go for emergency treatment if the surgery is closed. They also can carry out X-rays there and once your S1 is registered in Totana, you need to register on the local system, through the registrar at the hospital in the town. If you are referred by the local surgery for hospital treatment or consultations, these usually take place at Santa Lucia hospital, or Rosell hospital, which are in Cartagena, or one of the hospitals in Murcia. Again, we always use a lady called Ines Garcia as our hospital translator. There is a new private hospital due to open in the next weeks on Camposol. We are yet to discover if this will be used to provide some public health services.
Good luck
