Surely its income, not bank balance? Its always been quoted as "income". Anyone could spend £32,000 in a short time, so I,m 100% sure its income as that's always been what EU demanded from non EU immigrants. I cant see UK getting special treatment it would cause huge controversy from all the oth...

...er non EU countries.

Pauline.

At the moment in the Alicante region if you apply before January 2021...if you are from the UK and are under UK retirement age ... and apply to become a Resident all they ask for is a long term rental agreement or Escutura plus a private health insurance policy and €9,000 in the bank per person in the house hold at the time of application ...they don't ask you how you are going to live when your €9,000 runs out in around six months time ...this is a fact ... stupid I know but still a fact.

I understood that the requirements for becoming a resident of a country were set by each country - nothing to do with the bogeyman EC. Think of the UK - an EU member state, no set requirements on income, health cover, ability to speak English etc.

If Spain wants to keep people out that could be a drain on the country that seems fair enough.

Is that not because

a) we,re still a EU country up to January.

b) it was a Spanish ruling.

However we will be non EU and under EU Shengen Rules after January.

I would love to hope Spain would do something "special" for UK 2nd home owners in the future ,but I,m not holding my breath.

Regards

Pauline.

Remember there also Spanish people living in the uk now or want to in the future.  I think it's just going to be private medical insurance and a balance in the bank 😒

Just started considering the possibility of moving over. I'd like to know what the situation is like for jobs? I also have 2 primary age children so would need to know about schools?

Only jobs would be cash-in-hand washing up and the like. Unless you are fluent in Spanish there will be no career positions, and you would be competing with native Spaniards in a 40%+ unemployment market. Your children would probably never get a decent career either.

A career might not be a necessity..but a half decent paying job is you said ...you are considering moving over with your two children ... sounds like you might be on your own I maybe wrong but if I am right please don't come to Spain for anything other than a holiday as getting by on a daily basis will be very tough for you and the kids... Camposol is basically a big housing site in the sun with just a few shops/Bars you probably wouldn't get a job as they wouldn't be any vacancies due to the fact that we get atleast 3 post per week asking the same questions about looking for a job .
