Hi all

A friend and I have bought a house in Blanca (there is no forum sub-category for Blanca so this might show up under Cieza). Earlier this week, we went out to meet the renovation agent to discuss our plans for the house. One of our main plans is to create a roof terrace on the top floor by knocking down an existing bedroom. However, on our recent visit, we realised (not sure why we didn't spot it when we viewed the house!) that there is a public streetlight screwed to the exterior wall we need to knock down! There's no obvious way to reposition it as we want to knock down the entire top-floor wall. It's attached to a very short metal post and then the cables appear to go into a small junction box to which other electric cables to our house are attached.

So the upshot is - does anyone here have experience of asking any local council in the Murcia region for permission to reposition a streetlight as part of their renovations? If so, how long did it take to get a decision and what was the outcome?

Any other advice gratefully received.

Thanks.

Hi,

Did you buy via Real Homes in Spain? If not try contacting them as they have lots of experience and are in Blanca.

PS We've just bought a town house in Blanca too :-)

That's who we bought from and they're doing us a quote for the renovations. They didn't seem to have noticed the streetlight originally until we pointed it out the first time we visited after the purchase was completed. It didn't seem like they had any experience either, just said they'd have to contact the town hall about it. I was just wondering if anyone here had successfully had one moved before, how long the planning permission took and how much it cost.
