I am visiting El Algar to clear my fathers house who died recently. He left lots of medication. Do I need to take this to a pharmacy for safe disposal as we do in UK? If so could you please suggest a note to hand to the pharmacist as I speak no Spanish? Thanks.

Just take them to any farmácia where there is usually a bin for depositing unused medications. You don't need to explain anything but if you want to say something, just say "son de mi padre que se murió".
