Buying a second hand car
Hi we are wanting to buy a second hand car, something like a Renault clip. What's the easiest/cheapest way to do this, privately or dealer, bearing in mind I don't speak Spanish.

No doubt you will get a reply from a chap called Dave moaning about specialist cars, he had a bad experience and let's everyone know about it. He'll recommend Paul from carsinspain at Torre Pacheco, from our own experience he supplied us a good car. As for specialist cars, if they have a car that suits you use your own judgement. Bear in mind a cheap car in Spain is likely to be a banger, even then it won't be cheap by UK prices.

Thanks, is it a simple process buying privately or would it be easier going to a second hand dealer?

Any purchase requires a gestor. Car sales companies tend to have their own gestors. If you buy privately, you need to go to a gestor with the seller.
There is a standard-form contract of sale for you both to sign. This protects both parties. For example, it confirms to the purchaser that there are no outstanding debts/fines/parking tickets on the car. These debts stay with the car, so the purchaser would have redress against the seller if anything came up later.
Transferring ownership of a car is paper-intensive. Have the gestor check the paperwork over.
