Car hire prices in general have gone sky high.

I believe there was a thread about more reasonable car hire on here a little while ago.

Try searching for 'Car Hire' using the search box at the top of this page.

We've just booked a basic car with Centauro for €55 for a week, which we thought was reasonable...

This was direct with Centauro. I just had a quick look and, yes, it would be about £350 per week at that time.

My booking was for last week, until we bought a new car here, which we've done. Unfortunately, I expect that they have hiked the prices for the times when they expect that tourists will be able to come. I can only suggest waiting and seeing if you can get a deal closer to the time...

No, I have a separate annual hire car insurance policy with www.icarhireinsurance.com, which is about £60pa.

And this post was last year, when there were still travel restrictions, so prices were lower.

Unfortunately, car hire prices are a lot higher this year as many companies have cut their fleets and they're also trying to recover 2 years of losses due to Covid.
