Burning of garden waste
Morning,
Can someone please confirm if you are able to burn pruning waste from garden. If not can anyone recommend a clearance company?
Thank you.
Mick
Mick, I don't live in Fortuna so I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I imagine most small Murcian towns have similar regulations.
Here, in Cehegin, a bonfire now in August would almost certainly bring the Police! We live in the country and the fruit trees are pruned every winter so bonfires are common at that time. From the 1st of June to the end of September (basically after we've had some rain) bonfires are banned. We used to have to get a licence for burning at other times of the year but that seems to have stopped for the last couple of years. Officially, burning is only allowed within certain hours (0600 - 1600 sometimes less depending on which month!) but we see smoke at all hours. Plus, I'm writing about the country, not sure of rules for gardens in town.
Our local Cehegin Policia website gives details, if Fortuna doesn't have a similar site, ask at the Ayuntamiento. Ask about "quema de restos agricolas", which translates as burning of agricultural waste.
Hope this helps.
