We have our Internet and TV through Flexa and found them very good.  We have their router and their TV box and we also have a new LG smart television and have had no problems so far.  WE are in San Pedro and arranged through that office and their engineers spoke very good English.

Hi thanks for reply, they didn't give us a box just a router ?

My only advice and I don't sell anything is simply this ...don't pay 30 euros a month for English TV ...

We had new internet installed last October, and installation was 100 euros which included cost of the router which is then ours.

We also paid 100 euros for the television channels which has all the British Channels and about 60 others.

We have  internet on a pay as you go basis as we are not there all the time and it suits us better.  We just advise them online prior to arrival and it is switched on.  Cost is 2 euros per day for first 8 days and 1 euro a day from Day 9, and so far works well for us, and we have access to Netflix  through LG Smart TV.  You may well be able to get a better price but it has worked for us so far.  Hope that helps.

I don't believe anyone is paying 30 euros a month for tv, they are paying for an internet supply which I believe your suggestion of iptv, fire stick etc will need.

As for a satellite dish this obviously has a large installation cost an is not always possible to install, (apartments for instance) and the astra satellite, which uk tv uses is gradually shutting down services.

UK TV options in Spain:

1. Buy a satellite service. This is the time-honoured method. It will require a sat-dish of some sort if there is no communal dish already installed. Not cheap, and is slowly becoming a legacy system as options for delivering TV over broadband increase.

2. Buy an IPTV (i.e. TV delivered over Broadband) service. There are service providers around who will provide such a "managed" service - in other words, they not only provide the UK channels, but they also deal with all the technical bits for you as well. It's a good option if you are terrified of IT, but the service providers still want to maximise the money they make out of providing such a service, which means it's not as cheap as.......

3. Do-it-yourself Broadband (IP) TV. Definitely the cheapest option, especially if you're not a permanent resident. Indeed, what you can receive in Spain is to some extent determined by the services you subscribe to back in the UK. For example, with the right configuration, Sky subscribers can receive whatever (Sky) package you subscribe to at home, in Spain. However, you do need to have some understanding of how the technology functions, or at least be willing to embrace it. You don't need to have a degree in IT but going it alone will require a basic understanding of how the Internet works, along with the various bits of software and hardware that are required to come together to deliver TV to your home in Spain. It can be bitty, and it can be frustrating - but it's cheap, and it's the way forward if you're prepared to grapple with the technology.
