Hi,

I actually live there and love it! Yes, it is quiet but there are lots of places to visit nearby. We always say you can always find lively places but you can’t always find peace and quiet! We also have 24 hour security, beautifully kept gardens and eight well kept swimming pools. The properties...

... are all high spec too.

I notice that Bill1 says not to touch it with a barge pole. I notice, however, that he lives in Los Urrutias which is about a 40 minute journey away and not the nicest of places, except for Ruf-Mari restaurant, so with respect not sure he is the best person to comment.

The other advice to visit, rent and look around the area is good.

I would just add that UGR is 5 minutes away from the town of Balsicas which has everything you need, shops, banks, dentists, beauty shops, dress shops, banks, bars, restaurants etc. Yes, you need a car but isn’t that the case wherever you live?

I hope that this helps and good luck with your search.

Absolutely correct. We live on the Hacienda Riquelme resort and visit Balsicas often. It's a cracking little town with everything you need. We love Spanish food but when a full English breakfast or fish and chips is calling then the Spanish run El Reys restaurant on the high street is great.  They also do lovely homemade tapas. We did what all owners will tell you, visit for a couple of holidays or even rent first. Visit your proposed purchase at different times of day. Work out what is important to you.

We live on a golf course but don't play. We look out over the course and mountains beyond. The view is spectacular.  The resort has 24 hour security and gated access. These things were important to us.

Don't rush in, remember there are always lots of choice at all times.
