Has anyone fit a water filter to their taps to make the water drinkable? We met a man last year who said he had bought a device that fits onto your taps but don’t know where he got this. Has anyone else got a similar device who could provide info on what to buy and how to fit.

Thanks

It is called a Brita tap, obtainable from Leroy Merlin, sometimes Carrefour. A cartridge lasts 3 months and costs around €25.

We used one for years in Andalucia, but have not needed one here in Los Alcázares.

A cheaper option is a Brita jug, but the tap avoids constant topping up of the jug and the cartridge is easier and quicker to change.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have a look at Leroy Merlin. Does is simply fit onto your tap or does it fit to the pipes under your sink?

Just replaces the screwed-on filter on the outlet.

My partner has fitted a complete water filter system in our house so clean, drinkable water from all taps - it is 2 filters  and a uv light that kills every bacteria - the JB light you have to get from the uk ( order online ) the filters you can get from Brico - the whole system cost around £100 ish, but gives you the peace of mind and no messing with constantly buying jug or tap filters

He’s also fitted the same system for some of our friends

Get back to me if you need more details

JB 😊

Is the tap water in Los Alcazares drinkable?

Our house is in nearby El Carmoli so probably shares the same e supply as Los Alcazares.

It would be great to not have to buy bottled water!

We drink bottled water (solan de cabra, for the taste) but use tap water for everyting else. I suspect that few Spanish drink anything but tap water.
