Staying in Spain

Could anyone explain the 90 day rule regarding staying in S? I spend less than 90 days in Spain in a six month period but am hovering at around 90 days in a year in Spain. I am an Irish national.

It is 90 days in one go, so you can come and go a couple of times a year - not sure how long you must be out of Spain before coming back though. Just watch the 183 days total!

Thank you for this, yes I appreciate if you spend 183 days in Spain in a calenit means you become a tax resident of Spain.

You are an EU citizen and hopefully will remain so....unlike the Brits. The only rule you must heed is the tax rule re 183 days.As an EU citizen you have freedom of movement in the EU. You can stay as long or as short as you like. Just watch the tax rule!

I am not sure on reflection that this is right. As I understand it an Irish citizen (EU citizen) can only stay 90 days in Spain and then must apply for residence if staying longer. I believe that is 90 days in a 180 day period. Please tell me if you think I am mistaken
