Hi, we have recently bought a villa in Los Alcázares and wandered how easy it would be to set up a dog grooming business?
is there a market for it, what would pros and cons be?
Thanks

Mic

Are you from the UK? If so, I assume that you have checked that you can get a visa to work in Spain?

If you want to be self-employed, then you need to apply for an autonomo visa, which will require you to provide a business plan, proof that you can support yourself financially, proof of skills & experience and any qualifications required for the job, evidence of any expected contracts for work.

Most of the above doesn't apply if you are an EU citizen, of course.

Speaking Spanish would, obviously, be an advantage in any business.

Although I don't live in the area, I visit regularly and I see plenty of people with (generally small) dogs, so there may be a demand. Have you googled to see how much competition there may be..?

Hope this helps...

Thank you for your reply, yes I’m from the UK and knew I would need some kind of visa but wasn’t sure what I needed and cost of it!

It’s a long way off yet but just putting feelers out and will look into see if there is a demand for the service.

I have started Spanish lessons too. Your advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

Miche

Yes there is a market for good dog groomers. The downside is the high cost of self employment in Spain. You really need to look into being ' autónomo' and see if the finances work for you.
