Watch out Gold car hire

Yes, I have been stung by Goldcar, it seems more and more the case with car hire firms based at Murcia airport this last couple of years. They will do anything to grab as much as they possibly can for any grubby reason. I got charged 300 euros for a very slight scuff on an alloy by Eorocar, don’t think I even did it but unless you video the entire car in HD there is no comeback. Won’t be using them or Goldcar again.

I know its too late now but you should have done a Google search for Goldcar before you used them.

The internet has ten's of thousands of complaints about Goldcar.

Are you sure the KM's were not recorded on the hire document you signed when you picked the car up ???

Fortunately I have an annual excess insurance policy which covered me ( twice) and paid out, won’t use Goldcar again though.

I am in dispute with goldcar at the moment

Was charged 150 euro for what they say is a scratch that was not there.

I informed them there was no scratch but they said the car was checked by them before I took delivery??

Because my car was in being repaired I needed another 2 days later I collected a car from Goldcar ( had not been charged the 150 at this time) I checked the car and the roof was dented and scratched front and back bumper damaged and various other items I insisted the they take photos and give me a new agreement.

This they did and is now proof for me that the previous car could have had the damage

I am now awaiting another reply from them.

My son made me make sure with pics every little mark, scratch and ding. I had hired via another site where when I went to collect it GC said that the insurance wasn’t enough so I had to take out their insurance. I spent nearly 1/2 hour looking for a blue car only to discover it was black? I took my camera in and showed them all what I had taken which were lots of scratches and dings, plus the boots inside was filthy. Their reply was oh that was what the insurance was for? My reply was well it was not going to be claimed from my insurance. When I went to take it back I thought I am not putting anymore petrol in as after finding out about them on the net I thought the chance of my getting my money back was very dubious, but was surprised that it was refunded, I should imagine that they mark you and your card with either 100% fool or oh we had better not try that with them.
