We will be driving down from Santander to Los Alcazares later this month. Just wondered if anyone has any tips, recommendations for routes or great places to stop at.

Do it in two days, ringroad around Madrid, Aranjuez or Toledo are both very interesting stopovers

What time will you get your car off the ferry?

We should be off the ferry by 7:30am so we have a full day to fit the drive in.

We did Santander to Camposol last year and managed it in 9.5 hours including rest stops for us and the cats. Didn't  really have any choice as had to be at our new place to meet the removal van the next morning. Given a choice, no pets and an earlier start (docked around midday) we would have either haven taken longer breaks or split it over 2 days. It can be done in one day as long as you like driving and have time to recover the next day 😴😴😴

Given that everything goes to plan, we should be off the boat nice and early so I was hoping to get it done in a day but we do have 2 children (7 and 4) so I guess it all depends on how I deal with the "are we there yet" as I pull out of the port!

But it would also be nice to find somewhere nice to stop off.

If you don't have to, don't rush, see some of this amazing country

Aranhuez is the old royal capital south of Madrid, Toledo is a classical medieval city.  You could spend days in both places.
