Hi,

Has anyone got any idea where I can launch my sailing dingy. I have tried several places and none are suitable. Marinas want to charge lots of money just for a day. Ideally I would like to keep it somewhere out of the water and within reach of a launching slip or suitable beach. Anywhere where jet skies can launch would be ideal. Any suggestions?

What dinghy is it? Laser or larger ? On a trailer, you can launch it at the northern end of Manzares, in LA, there is a suitable launching ramp at the bottom of the Rambla, next to the Playa  Espejo jetty. . Its used for trailer powerboats, cats, Ribs and Jetskis. Its a designated area for OTB as well.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I used to use that ramp as it is 5 mins from where I live. However it was destroyed by the floods and has been rebuilt with a nice new sign and chained off prohibiting use by all power boats, sailing boats and jet skies. Even a ban on mooring  any type of boat.

To my knowledge there is nowhere in or close to LA where you can launch a boat apart from the Marinas where you have to be a member and pay them lots of money.

I tried the sailing club, not interested in new members and defiantly Spanish only. Same with the Marina at the southern end of the beach by the military barracks.

I think that LA has a rule of no boats unless your Spanish. Doesn’t seem to be a good idea in what is being promoted as a holiday town on the coast.

It is 90 seconds from where I have lived for almost 10 years. People are launching boats there every day.

What kind of dinghy do you have? Do you have a trailer or a trolley

Hi,

I will check again but the last time I looked (this summer) the sign was still there in a prominent position and a large metal chain was padlocked across the access which prevented anyone getting a car or trailer onto the ramp. I think it has been taken over by the rescue services who have taken over the building closest to the ramp for their equipment and rescue boat.

I can man handle my boat to and into the water without  the car but I need the car to pull it out so car access is important.

Yes very easy, you can put it in the water at CAR. do you know where the large jetty is in L A,if so

then you will see a dinghy park in front of the ramp, that is CAR. Go to the office at the front of the building, (white sliding gates) go to reception and ask. They have allowed boats to launch from there for years you just have to pay a days fee which was 10€ it may have changed now but it ia worth a try,  they may want you have a Spanish sailing certicicate which is not much of a problem to get. look on the internet for courses.

Ask for Auri, if she is still there she is very helpful, but mind you understand their rules.

Enjoy your sailing

David

Thanks for the info. I have tried in the past to use this facility and I have been willing to join the club if required. It would be perfect for me.  However the last time I enquired I was told in no uncertain terms that it was no longer available for general use and Spanish members only. Shame it’s a 5 min walk from where I live. Went there today to enquire but all locked up and no reply at the gate. I can’t seem to find a website or email to make any enquiries. Doesn’t look optimistic but if I could find someone to talk to that is in anyway helpful I may possibly have some success. I will keep trying but not looking hopeful.

Unfortunately the access is permanently locked by a padlocked chain with a new “NO BOATS” sign which also bans mooring and even getting on or off of boats. Went there today. Defiantly a no go for public use
