Am I right in thinking that resident pensioners get a discount on their prescription costs, and if so, is it much cheaper?

My bill is usually 10% of the full cost, but capped at €20 a month. This cap is dependent on the declared taxable income, so only applies if you submit annual returns.

What documents do you need to show a chemist to prove pensioner status? Presume you must be a resident.

You should have a prescription sheet from your GP (the state one you are registered with) that you take to the farmacia. Mine lists all my regular meds, along with the retail price and the cost to the patient. I assume the latter is based upon your status with the health service. If you have a digital certificate you can log on the the Murcia health service and see what meds are due and when, as well as see any reports on your hospital consultations.

Only applies to residents registered with the state health system … same as digital certificate is for residents but you could try asking at the Town Hall. As non resident you wouldn’t need one

Hi how do you get a digital certificate

We got our digital certificates at the public library on Av. Joaquin Blume. Los Alcazares. The gentleman there was so helpfull and gave us all the information we needed, he even checked we had received 2 emails before we left and told us which one to open on the main device we wanted our digital signatures stored on. Hope this helps.
