The Tarjeta Sanitaria is an important document, used to make appointments, identify you for Covid vaccinations etc.

Unfortunately there seems to be no system to remind you to renew it, so I suggest you have a look at the valid to date. Renewal is free and straightforward (bar my comments re understanding, below).

The only way to renew it is to make an appointment at the main Los Alcazares Centro de Salud, in my opinion the worst place I have found for not being Brit-friendly - particularly the jobsworth security guard who acts like he is general Franco!

The ladies on reception speak no English, so if your Spanish is not good think about taking someone to interpret.

I've  not been able to find a specific post that would help me with my query so , forgive me , and hopefully someone on here will have had experience they can share. My wife is having hearing loss  and I wondered if the health service have a hearing aid facility for pensioners . We are Insh  and registered for many years at our local clinic . We have Tarjeta Sanaterias and have, thankfully, enjoyed comprehensive medical care over tye years but are ignorant about hearing aid services.

Thanks

The Spanish system fr hearing is like their dental one: they simply do not deal with it. If you go to your GP they will refer you to one of the private hearing centres, where they do the tests and advice what they say you need - tests are free but aids are from a few hundred to several thousand Euros.

Hmm, Peter, Don't think your comments about Centro de Salud, are all together fair.

Brits need to be Spanish-worth/ sensible, not the other way round..

Please everyone, don't just rock up to places expecting they will understand you perfectly and get annoyed cause they don't. You are in Spain, they are not in the UK.

If you don't have great Spanish, always, always take a print out of a Microsoft Edge translation of what you need. (Not Google)

Note, there are multiple Security Guards there, on different days etc. They do a difficult job in these Covid 19 times with patience and politeness.

The print out you are carrying will make their job easier. Note, they are not multilingual, they deal with Desplazados, who speak a dozen languages.

Well Said, Roberto. some people are never satisfied . we who live in Spain should learn Spanish not the other way around . Try asking a hospital/clinic receptionist in the UK for what you want in Spanish !!!!

I can normally deal with anyone from builders to taxmen in Spanish, as long as they are willing to accept less than total fluency. Hearing a remark from someone employed to deal with the public on the lines of "another expletive English expletive", thinking I cannot understand what they are saying is very unhelpful.
