The OP asked about dates for Los Alcazares: this website link is not necessarily valid for Los Alcazares.

Our IBI was taken from our Sabadell account first thing today. Having this calendar link convinced us that the bank had made a mistake. However, we are informed today, by the town hall, that each municipality uses different dates and Los Alcazares uses 5 September for direct debit payees.

Hi, we have just had our IBI taken from our account. However it’s gone up 40%. We’ve paid the same amount for the last 4 years, then this year a big increase.

We did have new windows put in in May though, and had to get a permit from the town hall. Wondering if this has anything to do with it???

Anyone had an increase????

There was a revaluation of the cadastral values, thus the IBI costs have gone up.

Ours came out today and is 5% up on last year.

It is the Spanish equivalent of council tax. It is based upon the catastral value of the property and the % levied can vary from area to area. The rubbish collection from the streets is charged separately (“Basura”). The best system in my view is to set up Direct Debits with your town hall, along with any fee for a Vado and road tax for any cars. You can use DDs for your electricity and water & drains. Just make sure you keep enough in your bank account to pay them or you can be classed as non-payment with surcharges and fines.

All of these should have been explained to you by the estate agent and solicitor at the time of purchase, but sadly the level of care and competence leaves a lot to be desired!
