TRAVEL BAN ALL UPDATES

On Friday various BOEs were issued related to travel into Spain.

- 10 day Quarantine from Brazil & South Africa

- UK, Brazil & S.Africa areas Flight & Ferry Ban

- Non-EU travel ban extended until Mar 31st

Sources: BOE Order PCM/164/2021, BOE Order INT/161/2021, BOE Order INT/162/2021 & Ministerio de SanidadWith so many different updates and changes it is difficult to follow what Travel restrictions apply and until when. Some travel bans while based on your country are enforced by your passport while others are based on the land area because of a new strain of the virus or it is considered high risk.EXAMPLES TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND

• A British citizen in the UK is banned from travel to Spain under 2 rules, the EU ban for non-EU countries/citizens until 31st Mar and the Spanish ban on flights & ferries from the UK land area until Mar 16th.

• An Irish citizen in the UK is banned from travel to Spain due to the land area of the UK and no flights or ferries permitted except for Spanish citizens or residents.

• An Irish citizen in Ireland can travel to Spain with a negative PCR test, a British citizen in Ireland cannot.

• An Irish citizen can fly from Iceland to Spain with no negative test, a British citizen cannot.

• A US or Canadian citizen cannot travel to Spain due to EU ban on Non-EU countries until Mar 31st.

• An Australian (if permitted to leave Australia) can travel to Spain with a negative PCR test.

• An Australian in the UK is banned due to being in the land area of the UK and cannot travel to Spain.

• A US or Irish citizen in the UK who is a Resident of Spain can travel into Spain with a negative PCR test and a TIE card.

• A British citizen in the UK who is a Resident of Spain (or possible resident) can travel into Spain with a negative PCR test and a TIE card, Green residency certificate, Residency application document, Proof of living in Spain before 31st Dec 2020 (House deeds, rental contract – see Gov UK for full list).

FLIGHT & FERRY BAN

BOE Order PCM/164/2021 states exceptional measures are established to limit the spread and contagion of new variant by limiting DIRECT flights and passenger ships between the UK and Spanish airports & ports; and flights between the Brazil and South Africa and Spanish airports until 18:00 Mar 16th.

Note: Spanish Citizens & Residents (and those in process, see Gov UK) can travel.

NON-EU TRAVEL BAN

BOE Order INT/161/2021 accepts the recommendation of the EU to extend the Non-EU countries travel ban until 24:00 Mar 31st 2021. All Non-EU countries and areas are included, except the following who can travel to Spain:

Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, China (includes Hong Kong & Macau)

PORTGUAL

BOE Order INT/162/2021 extends controls at the land border with Portugal due to the health crisis situation until 01:00 16th Mar. Only Spanish Citizens or Residents with family can cross or EU citizens travelling home or those with special exceptions.

QUARANTINE 10 DAYS

Ministerio de Sanidad NEW: In compliance with Order SND/133/2021, people from Brazil & South Africa must remain in quarantine for 10 days after their arrival in. This period may end earlier, if on the 7th day the person undergoes a diagnostic test for acute infection with a negative result.

All other countries do NOT have to quarantine.

NEGATIVE TEST REQUIRED

In Annex II states List of countries & areas that require a negative test result to enter Spain.

EU COUNTRIES (dark red, red or gray risk areas on map)

Valid from Mar 1st to 24:00 Mar 14th

• Austria (except the Vorarlberg region) ,Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland (except some regions), France (except Guyana and the island of Martinique), Germany, Greece (except some regions), Hungary, Ireland, Italy (except the regions of Sardinia, Sicily & Valle D’aosta), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania. Luxembourg, Malta, Norway (except some regions), Netherlands. Poland. Portugal (except the Azores Islands), Romania, Sweden.NON EU COUNTRIES

• Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, China (includes Hong Kong & Macau)
