We are just gathering all our documents ready to apply for our non lucrative visas. According to the spanish consulate web page since 1st October 2023 all appointments have to be made through a company called BLS. Does anyone here have any experience of this company?

Many thanks

There is a company and youtuber called "UpSpicks" run by Chris Goodacre.  They offer services helping with visa applications and has a lot of up to date information on the BLS office in London as well as the other two.  He is in regular contact with the organisations getting people through the process and there is a lot of info, including his recent trip to all 3 offices in August this year on the channel.  The basic message is, despite a glitch in the switch from the embassy to BLS in London with the booking system (Chris offers a workaround to that on one of his recent videos) all is going well with appointments and processing visas providing you have all your recommended paperwork.

YoutooSpain is also a good youtube channel run by a guy called Skatz who has various guests on a Saturday morning covering a wide variety of things across the moving to Spain theme.  I'd recommend subscribing to both these channels to get notification as new videos come out and may be of interest to you.  This morning's broadcast on there featured Chris entitled "YouToo Spain is live: Spain Non Lucrative Visa & Residency Autumn update ".  I haven't had time to watch it myself yet but it is normally good stuff from very knowledgable guests in their field of expertise.

Good luck with your application.

Partner's son and his wife are going through this process, using the consulate in Manchester. They had gone for a pre-move holiday to the house they will be renting and were notified that their visas were approved and they should come back. No appointments, just "be there between 9 and 10", so they flew back from Malaga, were seen promptly and told to come back at 1 to collect the visas. They did so, only to be told that only his wife's was ready, his needed the police report from Spanish police. They do not know how long this may take, and only have a month to activate his wife's. He is now waiting to hear and will have to fly back specially and hope this time the info from the consulate is correct! Lots of apologies but no offer to pay his air fare...

That's strange - I successfully completed my NLV application in May 2021 and the 'Police report' that is required for the NLV is the ACRO check, which is a criminal record check with the UK police - there was no requirement for a Spanish police report.

When I renewed in 2022, I was not asked for an updated ACRO check or any report from the Spanish police...

Not really strange - there are rarely two Spanish funcionarios that will do or tell you the same thing. The consulate have said they are waiting for a report from the National Police so it is out of their hands - one of the better excuses for incompetence I have come across!
