Unlike ITV in Cartagena - there are no queues so not much delay if you just turn up.

I quite agree. It is better and because they have nothing to do with fixing faults, so are not motivated to induce faults of find non-existent ones.

A friend who used to live near Brighton (and Camposol) always used his local garage and had known the owner for years. Then, or so the owner told him, they started getting a lot of MoT Failures - all from a new mechanic they had recently taken on from a large chain that supposedly fitted things quickly. When asked about it the mechanic said that at his previous job they had been encouraged to find or generate faults so they could then make a profit from "fixing" them. He was then encouraged to leave.
