Registration for Letting
I have seen postings that refer to registering a property for letting. What is this about? How do you go about doing it?

You need to register & comply with the terms of the registration to let out a property.
The penalties are very severe if you do not register as it is classed as tax evasion.
Could be 10's of thousands of euro's.
It also can take many months to get registered I believe.
See here but there are plenty of other sources of information on this subject.

Yes very helpful information from this member. It is now absolutely essential to register any property if you intend to rent it out yourself or as an agent...house apparment etc all have to be registered.
Agree it takes times and the authorties are very strict ... once registered and gaving been issued with your rental licence and number you are also legally responsible for registering everyone who stays in you property with the local police.
Yes the authorities are checking rentals all over now for licences and catching people and fining very considerable sums.
As the firum member note unregistered property rental is now tax evasion by law and penalties being handed out by courts run into 10's of thousands of euro.....recent local case 110,000 euro's fine to couple renting with no licence.
Checked with my Tax Advisor yesterday - and was told you have to register only for short-term letting. If it is a long term let (ours has had the same tenant for several years) then you do not have to register.
