Because there are many like me who have emphesema/COPD and the slightest whiff of cigarette smoke can badly affect breathing and might lead to a painful coughing fit.
I have COPD however I Just accept and respect the rights to do what they wish if they are not breaking the law, just go and sit on a non smoking beach with a picnic and enjoy

Except on the terraces of British bars in Spain, where the smokers will be approximately 100% British!!!

But they don't exist. This weekend in Murcia city every single place we went for a coffee or a meal was outside only and as you are trying to eat or even breathe someone on the next table is blowing smoke into your face. Yet Spaniards apparently seem to live long and healthy lives......

After living in Spain for over 25 years including Murcia City I have never once had anyone blow smoke in my face or in fact at me

I meant British bars in Spain, where the terraces of British bars are full of Brits smoking, similar to the Spanish smoking on the terraces of Spanish bars, which is what the poster was commenting on. This is a forum about Spain, not the UK!

Agree. Why can't immigrants in Spain accept that they are in a host country and respect Spaniards' rights to their own laws. If immigrants to the UK were complaining like this I know what the answer would be!

Why are we smokers always the bad guys?
Please, let's tolerate each other please
Totally agree ! We are (smokers) actually more considerate than people who drink excessively or act irresponsibly with terrible disrespect for other peolple.. we do respect other people (non-smokers), always smoking away and mostly asking people around us in public or on a terrace if it is ok to smoke.. give is a break !!

Second hand Smoke affects anyone that it touches, my hubby suffers very badly with his chest and was diagnosed with COPD from smoking although he is off them 23 years, and refuses to sit anywhere near a smoker Regardless of the effects it has on everyone’s health it is awful if you are sitting in the vicinity of a smoker your hair and clothes absolutely stink.
