Hi there. We have had a holiday home in San Cayetano for just over 2 years (we were previously near Catral in Alicante). We love the village as it is very authentic but has a nice mix of English and other nationalities as well. It has everything you need within walking distance but is only 10 minutes drive to the coast, shopping centres and plenty of cafes and restaurants. The Sierra Espuna mountain range is about an hour's drive away and is stunning. Los Alcazares, Santiago de la Ribera and Lo Pagan are in easy reach (about 10 minutes drive) and all have lovely promenades and beaches. Los Arcos hospital is very close and there is a 24 hour chemist 5 minutes drive away in San Javier. The village itself is quiet with several English and Spanish bars as well as a brilliant Spanish restaurant, a community centre, a great ferreteria, a bakery and a Spar. There is a fiesta every Summer which goes on for a few weeks and has processions, paella making, a foam party and lots of fireworks. Everyone is really friendly in the village but it is quiet and peaceful so it depends what you are looking for. You would need a car as there is no public transport. The surrounding area is great for cycling and walking. Hope this helps.
