My name is Chris (Christine).  I am hoping to move out to the San Cayetano area next year.  I lost my husband is September last year and we were both very keen to come and live in the Costa Calida area.

I will now be coming over with my doggie Buddy who is 1 and the love of my life.  I would like a small bungalow / ground floor apartment where I can do a little gardening.  It would be nice if there was a communal pool too as I love swimming.  I would be very keen to get involved in local life and my keen love of all animals means I would love to help a rescue society

Can people let me know if San Cayetano if the right area for me to live.

I would love to hear from you all.  Manhy thanks

Hi Chris

I have recently moved to Spain, on my own with my pets. I researched the areas as I needed to be somewhere where I could be involved in a community, where there was plenty going on, and as I don't speak Spanish yet I decided on Camposol, as there are a lot of English speaking expats. The community spirit is lovely, and people like to help each other. I have not regretted my move and love living here. The villas are really nice and the surrounding countryside is stunning ( mountain views all around ) you are 15 mins from the coast and 30 mins from the Sierra Espuna National Park. Everything is catered for, all the shops, restaurants, doctors, dentists, vets are located on the two commercial centres. I would thoroughly recommend Camposol, it is a lovely place to live. I do not know the area that you are considering, but good luck with your move to Spain...you will love it.

Hello Chris

And welcome I hope you do move to Spain as it is a lovely country.

I moved to Spain permanently in 1999 after having holiday home which I used for 6 months of the year, I was one of the first people to buy on Camposol when there was not even a show house just fields, but I knew the are and the builders so I purchased kept the property until 2010 when after renting it out for a period and living in other areas I decided Camposol was no longer for me,

I now live in both Murcia city and Santiago de la Ribera both entirely different places one a busy beautiful  city and the other a lovely coastal town.

I did for many years sell property to people coming over on inspection trips all with their different dreams, I would always show them the area first before houses to be sure they knew what they were looking for as many had no idea.

You sound as though you have done your homework but  remember it is a big decision to make!  I am sure like many thousands of people that come to live in Spain from different countries and walks of life have settled here and enjoy shelver

Sorry if a bit long winded but .I hope you find what you are looking for if I can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Ed

My husband and I just retired and looking to moving to Spain as well. We're researching Càdiz and Murcia. I am of Spanish background, my husband not. We both would love to live in a city or village where there's a mixture of friendly  people, fresh food, fresh air, walking distance to parks, shops, cafés, close to the beach, transportation and not too hilly. We're looking at San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcáceres and surrounding áreas. Any suggestions please! Thank you so much. Very grateful.

Hi Chris

My husband and I have just bought a 2 bed apartment in San Cayetano.  We are still waiting on the keys but are absolutely delighted with the area.  We are planning to use it as a holiday home at the moment as we are both in full time employment.  We only visited the area a couple of times when we were looking for an apartment and felt really at home there.  There is a british bar and we found everyone to be friendly and was made to feel very welcome.  There is a local shop and a market every Wednesday as well as a baker so everything you need is within walking distance.  It is about a 10 minute drive to the beach.

I hope you find somewhere and if there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know.

Emma

Hi Emma! Thank you for posting! It's very encouraging. It appears from what I can see online that the area is very beautiful. But nothing compares to the word of mouth. Can't wait to get there soon and see for myself. By the way, can anyone tell me if this is a fishing area? My husband loves fishing! Thank you  so much!!!

Hi Chris

I love San Cayentano, I don't live there at the moment but travel out several times a year and aiming to move out within the next 18 months and by the latest 2 years. I am learning Spanish too. Its a beautiful Spanish town with lots of amenities with a small ex pat community.  There is a fantastic dog rescue about 10-15 minutes drive away, you would need transport, and the rescue rescues Spanish greyhounds.  I will PM you with the details.  I travel out specifically to volunteer at the rescue and I absolutely adore it.  Do keep in touch.

best wishes

Hi Trish , I am looking to move out to Spain in the next few years and also want to work with dog rescue . I am on my own apart from my two dogs and will hopefully be in a position to buy a small place . I ideally want somewhere close to the beach but not commercial . It’s a big step for me but I am really determined to make the move . I am only familiar with Costa del sol but prices there are way too much for me to pay . Nice to read someone with the same intentions

Hi Chris, we moved to San Cayetano in January this year and love it.  There are plenty of English people in the village if you struggle with Spanish. There is a Cuban restaurant, 2 English bars and 2 Spanish bars ( all are friendly), there's a chemist, a bakery, a tobacco shop, a diy shop, a odd and sods shop and a spar. All the locals are friendly and polite.

We live on a complex with a pool so it's great for the hot days, any questions just message me and good luck 😃
