If you explain the situation to your insurance company, they should cover a non-M.O.T'd car while you drive directly to the garage. (Probably best to pre-arrange this for immediately on your arrival in Portsmouth, or Plymouth, with a local garage) and hope it passes. You're in trouble if it fails !

You are allowed to drive a non M.O.T.'d or taxed car directly to a PRE-ARRANGED M.O.T. test. But you MUST be sure the garage has you booked in....

...

Good luck.

Sorry,

I assumed that this was a U.K. registered car.

If Spanish registered, it will have to be transported.

Sorry.

For the avoidance of doubt ... a UK car can only be driven in Spain if it is fully legal in the UK ... MOT (if age-appropriate), tax, insurance.

Not sure if this is posible, but worth trying the Spanish ITV. They might give you an  inspection and certify It is derivable in Spain.

Alsi, depending on valué and your plans, registrar It in Spain. You would have to pay tax. Best to use a Spanish gestor.

No matter what ITV can say without a UK MOT it’s illegal to drive in Spain you’d have to have it transported back to UK

Spanish law. You may drive a foreign registered car for a maximum of 6 months. Then Spanish tax must be paid. So, yes It cannot be legally driven through Sain.

Registering the car here would cost 98€and beteren 4 and 10 percent of the government book valué, normally bellow market price. Compare this to the price of paying a transort company.

That is UK law. The car is in Spain. It has to be registered here as It has bien here for over 6 months, or legally cannot be driven on Spanish roads.
