Just as well there's an "edit" button under our posts then, so that we can make any necessary corrections after posting. ;-)

This might read like a 1st World problem, and we aren't corresponding for an English grammar test, but when writing Q&A's, some people should be more attentive to the correct use of the words... there, their and they're.

Feel free to discuss or ignore my mini-rant 🤔. I'm done 😁

I guess it depends whether you had a decent education and paid attention in class.

I left school with just a CSE in Woodwork, but thankfully got my head straight and knuckled-down to studying over the next few years.

For those that aren't so fortunate, but are prepared to work, success is attainable, despite a lack of formal education.

How wrong you are some people I being one struggle to spell simply words.

It is called Dislexia, and it affect how I spell and how I put together sentences etc, there are a whole range of this type of problem and instead of posting self righteous comment perhaps you should just be thankful that you do not have these problems.

Some very silly statements here and it is obvious that you do not realise that all the rules for English came about recently in history there was no correct way to spell any word until the invention of a dictionary, and even then most people did not have access to such a grand item.

In the early 20th century census recorders changed peoples name by writing the name in a different format to generally used.

(rgz3435: What a flippant statement, it is through no fault of the education system, paying attention in class or intelligence that some people have problems.)

I personally have among my many qualifications a BA Honours degree in Law with Computing and many others, with a real zest for learning I have tried but I doubt I could pass a simple English exam today.

I may in many way consider that other should have abilities in Maths or Engineering that I have but different from posters here I realise that each of us have different talents or non, but it is the person that counts not things of no real importance.

If you cannot understand what someone means you can always politely ask, in the situation of BB's a PM is the best way to save embarssisment.

oadbyman has proved that despite his problems he can put together an erudite and thoroughly understandable post.

All it takes is him caring enough to make an effort.

I totally agree with you. I had just celebrated my 15th birthday when I left school and I started work a week later. I have worked all my life but spent my spare time reading and learning something new every day. I hated history at school and yet my favourite thing is to read books and watch TV programmes on historical subjects. In fact, we watch more documentaries on the television than anything else. I didn't like school and couldn't wait to leave but my education has never stopped. I always say that my real education began once I left the restrictions of school. I may not have any certificates that prove I can pass an exam but my employment history shows that this has never stopped me from having a long and fruitful working life.

I do so agree, I still get confused with some people's blogs when they use the "weather, whether" and the were, we're, where " by the time I have managed to understand I have lost the plot myself!!!
