Hi GraSal,

Fiber  is available in la Ribera. We have internet via Avatel (I believe they are now owned by Flexa) and I’ve got to say it’s been very good, only one small issue just after moving to Fiber which they sorted quickly. We don’t have the TV channels so I can’t comment on the reliability of those.

I was with San Pedro Internet for many years they then sold out to Flexa who inturn have been purchased by Avatel.

Since the Last takeover I had nothing but problems and bad service, I changed to Avanza a Spanish Company in San Javier excellent service and price.

For English tv I suggest yoga get a firestick and have it loaded with what you need.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much we found Flexa very communicative in discussing setting up an internet service only for their engineer to deny there were any fibre optic cable near our property to connect to. Have tried communicating with Avatel and like talking to a brick wall. Thank you for the info on the other provider in San Javier.

Was previously with TV Horadada who have been taken over by Avatel (who are also taking over many other providers recently) and have had nothing but trouble with them. When I complained about the lack of WIFI I was told last week by an employee over the phone that they now only provide WIFI to the floor where the router is installed - so that means if you are in say a 2 floor building they will not provided any internet on the second floor.  My router is less than 5 m from the computer on the second floor - they said not our problem.  I said there is a problem with the router and was told even if it was their fault I would have to pay for their engineer to come out.  My 2.4 signal that previously was even available on the solairum has now stopped being available.  Actually I can get a weak 5 on the 1st floor which they say is not guaranteed.

I am currently looking for another provider but the issue is many of the "independent" companies are being and have been taken over by Avatel so once they have them all we all know what will happen.  There service and customers service is AWFUL

Hi,

Last year we had internet installed by Flexa in our apartment in Satiago de la Ribera. It was a game-changer.

We opted for their 'Internet por dias' service, which is essentially a pay as you use system for the times we are there. I think the maximum daily rate is about 2 euros per day, and it scales cheaper the more days you have booked. You turn it on and off by logging in back at home and selecting and paying for the period you want  it turned on. The install, including the router and cabling was 100 euros and the guy who installed ours was brilliant. He had to run cable from a long way from our apartment and then through the infrastructure of the building, finally getting it inside our apartment where we wanted it. He was very persistent and we are really pleased with the overall service and package for us.

I believe they do a TV add-on package too, but we use a fire stick loaded with some TV apps, which works well, or you could use apps on a smart TV I suppose.

Many thanks for your informative message.  I have tried Flexa but they do not cover my area where we have fibre with over 600 mbps and was until a few weeks ago really good, but had gone down hill big time.  There are 2 providers in this area one being Avatel but the other one has just been taken over by Avatel so as usual now across parts of Spain they do what they want and will not assist. So I am still on the look out for another "customer focused" provider, but not holding my breath!!
